HFOs and TFA: The Growing Threat of PFAS
This session explored why f-gases such as HFOs are considered PFAS and how their atmospheric degradation product trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is proliferating in the environment and turning up in human blood, with potential health implications.
Michael Garry, Editor-at-Large, ATMOsphere, will discuss the latest global research on the spread of TFA in the environment and its potential threat to human health.
Dr. Rainer Lohmann, Professor, University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography, will describe his research into TFA in groundwater in Rhode Island.
Dr. Anna Reade, Senior Scientist & Director, PFAS Advocacy, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC),, will track the progress of the California PFAS bill, which includes regulation of f-gas refrigerants.
Marc Chasserot, Founder & CEO, ATMOsphere, will provide an update on the EU’s progress in regulating PFAS as a class, including f-gas refrigerants and their by-product trifluoroacetic acid (TFA).
